Would You Shoot An Intruder?

An Oklahoma mother, 18, faced this deadly decision on New Year's Eve.

ABCNews reports that a young Oklahoma mother shot and killed an intruder to protect her 3-month-old baby on New Year's Eve.

Sarah McKinley's husband had died of cancer a week earlier. A man named Justin Martin visited her home the day of the funeral, claiming that he was a neighbor who wanted to pay condolences.

Martin returned to the McKinley home with another man, Dustin Stewart, on New Year's Eve. The men were armed with a 12-inch hunting knife.

As the men tried to enter her home, McKinley grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun, went into her bedroom and got a pistol, put a bottle in the baby's mouth and called 911.

The 911 operator told her that she could not shoot the intruder until he entered her home.

When Martin kicked in the door and came toward her with the knife, she shot and killed him. Oklahoma police claim the shooting is justified.
