College Board Recognizes AP Scholars from Athens Academy

In recent years, students have been leading the way in performance on Advanced Placement exams.  Over the past decade, 36% of Athens Academy’s seniors have been recognized as AP Scholars.

Thirty-seven members of the Class of 2011, or 44 percent of the class, received AP Scholar recognition from the College Board.  Achieving the highest level of recognition, four members of this class were recognized as AP National Scholars. Success on AP exams generally means that these 37 students entered their first year of college having already earned credit hours.  Members of Athens Academy’s Class of 2011 have gone on to such schools as the University of Georgia, Harvard University, the University of Virginia, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Georgia Tech.

Sixteen members of the Class of 2012 were also recognized, including five students who earned Scholar with Distinction Status.  Shida Chen, Jennifer Dorfman, Braden Lapp, Kurt Mueller, and Karishma Sriram all scored 3 or higher on at least five AP tests, earning the second highest level of recognition. 

National Scholars:

Achieved a score of 4 or higher on 8 or more exams.
