Oconee County resident and Snellville Police Investigator has been nominated for the Medal of Merit in Gwinnett County.
“I feel privileged to be nominated for such a distinct honor, especially when there are so many other deserving public safety officials who go above and beyond each and every day," Downs said in a released statement. “It’s always nice to be nominated for something, but I don’t go to work or volunteer for community programs because I hope to receive awards or public recognition. I get up each and every day and simply do my job because I want to serve my community and make it a better, safer place to live.”
The award will be given during the 7th Annual Gwinnett County Valor awards luncheon on March 27.
