Georgia Academy of the Blind and the Atlanta Braille Volunteers to Host BRAILLE CHALLENGE

The following is a news release from the Georgia Academy for the Blind

The  BRAILLE CHALLENGE®,  is a very special competition that motivates blind students to improve their braille reading and writing literacy skill. The Georgia Regional Braille Challenge will be hosted by Georgia Academy for the Blind and the Atlanta Braille Volunteers, 2895 Vineville
Avenue, Macon, GA 31204 on Thursday, January 26, 2012, 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.

The BRAILLE CHALLENGE is a national program of Braille Institute® hosted by regional schools and agencies that serve blind and visually impaired children.  It is the only national braille literacy competition of its kind in the country, and is specifically designed to challenge and reward blind students for their study of braille, which is essential to their future academic and employment success.

The competition is open to students in 1st through 12th grades in Canada and the United States.  Prizes will be given in each age category.  

The presenting sponsor is The Braille Institute Auxiliary. The regional prize sponsors are: Humanware, National Braille Press, Seedlings Braille Books for Children, and Perkins Products.  Registration forms are available at
