Copper Grounding Wire Stolen From Georgia Transmission
Someone recently removed 200 feet -- $2,500 worth of wire.
Oconee County Sheriff's deputies this week were dispatched to a Georgia Transmission power station in the 7000 block of Hog Mountain Road to investigate the theft of copper grounding wire.
According to an incident report, sometime between 10 a.m. on March 2 and 10 a.m. on March 5, someone cut and removed about 200 feet of wire from the chain link fence surrounding the complex.
An investigator who works for the company told deputies the stolen wire has an estimated value of $2,500.
