Update: Deputies Capture Four Suspects in Connection with Possible Burglary

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies have taken into custody four suspects --three men and a woman-- they believe may be connected to a possible burglary on Virgil Langford Road.

Just before noon Saturday, a Nixle alert was issued notifying the public that deputies were in pursuit of a pair of suspects who'd led them on a foot chase in the area of Ga. 316 and Jimmy Daniel Road.

By 12:45 p.m., the Sheriff's Office announced four suspects wanted in connection with a possible burglary had been apprehended, one of which had been forced up a tree by a k-9. 

Sheriff Scott Berry said the initial incident occurred at a vacant home on Virgil Langford Road.

The property owner had filed a theft report months ago and deputies have been periodically keeping an eye out in the area, Sgt. James Hale said.

Saturday morning a deputy on patrol spotted a gold Ford Mustang that had backed into the driveway. As the deputy approached the vehicle, one man -- dressed from head to toe in camouflage-- ran from the car and into the nearby woods where he was apprehended following a brief chase, Hale explained. 

Two men and a woman still inside of the car were detained, Hale said.

According to jail records, the following were charged with loitering and prowling: Charlie Alexandria Kitchens, 21, of Winder; Loren Anthony McGee, 31, of Maysville; Hoke Benjamin Hayes, 22, of Hoschton; and Robert William Bailey, 34, of Athens.  Additionally Bailey faces charges of obstruction and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation continues, Hale said.
