A school board meeting, audition for an area threatre group's upcoming performance, and a screening of "The Hunger Games" are a few of the things to know in and around Oconee today.

Weather: The Weather Channel forecast calls for highs in the upper 80s and a mix of clouds an sun.  There's a 30 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon.

  • Volunteers are needed to help with OCAF's 10th annual Perspectives event. Call 706-340-4919 for more information.
  • At its meeting this evening the Oconee County Board of Education will recognize three students who placed at the FBLA National Leadership Conference this summer, according to the agenda. It begins at 4:30 p.m. 
  • holds auditions for an upcoming performance of "The Wizard of Oz." They take place today and tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. at 293 Gran Ellen Drive in Athens. .
  • UGA hosts "Lights Out on Legion" at 8:30 p.m. at Legion Field for a screening of "." Cost is $7 or free for fees-paid students with UGACards.
