Gwinnett firefighters were called to the Zaxby's located at 3951 Stone Mountain Highway around 7:22 p.m. Friday evening.

Damage from a grease fire at a Snellville-area Zaxby’s may have the popular fast-food restaurant out of operation for a while.
Gwinnett firefighters were called to the Zaxby’s located at 3951 Stone Mountain Highway around 7:22 p.m. Friday evening after employees reported the grease fire in the kitchen.
The building was already evacuated when crews arrived and no injuries were reported. An employee and patron tried to douse the fire with a portable fire extinguisher, but were unsuccessful.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly after arriving, but the fire caused extensive damage and sent smoke and water throughout the building.
“Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and did a great job of stopping the spread of the fire and containing it to the kitchen,” Gwinnett Fore Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in a news release. “The business will be closed until repairs and cleanup can be made to the interior of the restaurant. There was no visible damage to the exterior of the structure.“

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but appears to be accidental from grease that ignited in a fryer area of the kitchen.
