Suspect Fleeing Police Hits Power Pole on Lenora Church Road

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday night.

Traffic on Lenora Church Road, near Pate Road, was being diverted on Friday evening. Snellville Police confirmed that a suspect fled from an officer and hit a power pole.

Due the damage, Georgia Power and Cox Cable required that the entire intersection be shut down for safety purposes, since the pole was being held up by existing wires only. As of 9 p.m., the road was still blocked, but a Facebook message by Snellville Police stated that it should reopen soon after.

"The offender was captured after trying to run on foot after the accident," they added. "It is a shame that he won't have to apologize to all the people that he caused trouble to."

A number of school buses were delayed over half an hour due to the accident.
