South Gwinnett Baseball Team Scheduled in Two-Day Event at Coolray

Baseball will begin for 2013 this week at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, as 10 high school teams from Gwinnett and Forsyth counties will compete in a two-day, five-game event. South Gwinnett High School is one of the teams on the roster.

On March 8-9, the South Gwinnett team will be joined by teams from Mountain View, Lanier, North Gwinnett, Providence Christian, Duluth, Collins Hill, Brookwood, North Forsyth and Peachtree Ridge. These teams will take to the diamond in the event's debut.

“We’ve had singular events before, showcasing some top high school baseball teams in the area,” Gwinnett Braves General Manager North Johnson said in a news release.  “Through the efforts of the community and our staff, we have expanded to welcome the largest high school showcase in the history of Coolray Field. We want Coolray Field to be an outlet for the entire county and surrounding areas so they can take part in this one-of-a-kind experience."

The game schedule is:

March 8, 4 p.m.: South Gwinnett vs. Mountain View;

March 8, 6:30 p.m.: Lanier vs. North Gwinnett;

March 9, 2 p.m.: Providence Christian vs. Duluth;

March 9, 4:30 p.m.: Collins Hill vs. Brookwood;

March 9, 7 p.m.: North Forsyth vs. Peachtree Ridge.
