'The Avenue Webb Gin' Renamed 'The Shoppes'

New signage should appear soon at the entrances of the shopping center.

According to a recent statement, The Avenue Webb Gin has been renamed The Shoppes at Webb Gin.

The change in name follows a change in ownership as Cousins Properties sold to Bayer Properties LLC and institutional investors advised by JP Morgan Asset Management, making it a joint venture, in November 2012 for an undisclosed price, according to Bizjournals.com.

Cousins Properties also sold The Avenue Forsyth in November for $100MM.

The location of The Shoppes is described by Bayer as "in the bull’s-eye of one of the area’s most prosperous communities."

“We’re pleased to partner with J.P. Morgan on this Joint Venture acquisition, an extension of the successful third-party management relationship we’ve established over the past few years," said Jay Wiseman, Vice President of Acquisitions for Bayer Properties in a November statement. "The Avenue Webb Gin acquisition plays to the strengths of Bayer Properties, providing an opportunity to upgrade the merchandise mix and enhance productivity through strong retailer partnerships, while creating an enjoyable, community-centric environment for consumers to shop, dine, work and play.”

All storefronts will remain the same, while the signage at the entrance of the shopping area should be replaced soon. Bayer Properties LLC applied for the trademark on March 8; the logo is described as consisting of the stylized wording THE SHOPPES, according to their trademark application, with a design inside the "O" in "Shoppes", in large lettering and situated above a line. Below that is the stylized wording AT WEBB GIN.
