Fall Food and Pickin' at Suwanee Music Barn

The iconic bluegrass venue is having a benefit event Saturday.

Fall means many things in Suwanee -- and in the past few years, it means a special event at Everett's Music Barn.

The iconic bluegrass facility in Old Town Suwanee will be holding its second annual fall fund-raiser Saturday (Oct. 5), according to a Facebook post.

Events begin at 1 p.m. A pot-luck type meal will be at 5 (bring a dish). The Smith Brothers from Tucker, twins in their 80s, will be performing at 6 p.m., according to Tommy Everett, soundman and curator of the barn's musical tradition.

The Everett Family Band will perform at 8, as is customary with the weekly Saturday night performances.

"With the help and donations of many friends, we have been able to raise the funds to complete several major repair projects at the barn over the past 2 years.," read a Facebook post.

The barn, which is located on Stonecypher Road, was built by hand in the 1970s, and has regularly hosted performances since then. In 2012, it hosted a citywide picnic for the City of Suwanee.
