Man Arrested for DUI on Suwanee Greenway

'There's damage,' suspect said after arrest.

A Suwanee man has been arrested on a DUI charge in an incident that may have left damage to the Suwanee Greenway, according to Suwanee Police.

Ethan Marc Day of a Lilly Path Circle address was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center early on Tuesday (Aug. 6). Charges include DUI and violation of park rules.

According to the incident report, Day's vehicle -- which was registered to another owner -- was spotted on the greenway near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road about 1:43 a.m. Tuesday. When the officer shined his spotlight on Day's vehicle, Day retreated in reverse and headed toward Martins Farm Road.

The officer then headed there, and conducted a traffic stop when Day's vehicle arrived soon after. When asked why he was driving on the greenway, Day told the officer it was because he was "under the influence of alcohol," the report said.

When the officer asked Day how much he had had to drink, Day responded, "more than I should and be driving."

A field sobriety test showed Day with a blood-alcohol level of 0.130. Day was later tested at the Suwanee Police Department, and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.143.

Day also told Suwanee officers "there's damage" to the greenway, the report said.

Officers released the vehicle to the registered owner.
