Suwanee Park Turf Getting a Makeover
The midyear turf replacement has been delayed by weather.
By the time the second half of the Suwanee 2013 events schedule cranks up, the Town Center Park turf will have had a turf-lift.
City officials have been busy replacing the sod in the city's showcase park, which is somewhat routine for this time of year. The frequent events bring substantial foot traffic, and some relief usually is in order.
Yes, the rainy weather of late has been a factor. Public Works Director James Miller notes that work has been delayed.
The two types of bermudagrass turf being installed are TifGrand in shady areas around trees, and TifSport in open areas, because it is better suited for foot traffic.
The next event for the park is Broadway in the Park, set for July 26-27. Other upcoming events include:
- Food Truck Friday, Aug. 2;
- Eve 6 concert, Aug. 10;
- Suwanee Day, Sept. 21.
