Work in Pipeline for Key Suwanee Intersection
McGinnis Ferry Road-Scales Road intersection was the scene of a double-fatal traffic accident in November 2012.

Gwinnett County officials soon plan to begin installing a traffic light at a busy Suwanee intersection.
The McGinnis Ferry Road-Scales Road intersection has been in line for a traffic signal for months, since both the county and Suwanee approved funding.
David Tucker of the Gwinnett Department of Transportation said Tuesday (Aug. 6) that work could begin as soon as August, and could be completed by September.
Mast arms to suspend the light above the intersection are being ordered; Suwanee approved $25,000 for these. Gwinnett County, which maintains the intersection, approved $145,000 for the light after a study of traffic patterns showed that a traffic signal was warranted.
Nearby residents long have desired a signal at the intersection. Their feedback reached new heights in November, when a head-on collision killed two people and seriously injured another.
The intersection, which is near Suwanee Station and also near one edge of Old Town Suwanee, sits at the crest of a hill, which limits visibility, especially at night.
