How to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

In the wake of a terrible tornado that ripped through America's heartland Monday— killing dozens— many people are wondering what they can do to help those affected by the disaster in Oklahoma.

The tornado, with winds estimated at 200 mph-plus, tore through the area of the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore on Monday afternoon.

The Red Cross

Red Cross officials say the best way to help is to donate money to relief efforts.  
According to the agency, the public can contribute to their Disaster Relief Fund "...which helps provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by disasters like the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma..."

One of the easiest ways is to simply text the word REDCROSS to the number 90999, and $10 will be donated to the agency via your monthly cell phone bill. According to the Red Cross, that money goes into the fund.

If you can't text, or don't want to, you can also donate via the Red Cross website, by clicking here. Donations made online can be for an amount of your choosing, with a minimum of $10.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has also set up a fund specifically for those affected by the Oklahoma twister. Click here to donate to Oklahoma Tornado Relief. 

You can also mail them a check.  Send donations— with "Oklahoma tornado relief" written on all checks— to:
