Local Teachers to Receive CINS Grants

The Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools announced the recipients of the 2010-2011 CINS Excellence in Education grants this week.

Proposals from teachers at seven schools in the cluster — including , and — were selected.

The 15 winners were selected based on “innovative ideas and projects presented.”

The Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools has awarded about $75,000 in grants since the program was founded in 1984.

The proposals selected include:

• Katrina Jones, Inman Middle School - Community-Based Instruction
• Marquise Delaney, Inman Middle School - Good Books Lately?
  
• Valerie Taylor, Morningside Elementary School - Incubating Duck and Quail Eggs
  
• Jeanine Rousso, Springdale Park Elementary - Conflict Management from a Frog
  
• Latriecia Brown and Jenny Lockwood, Springdale Park Elementary - Math Buddies
  
• Brianne Turgeon, Springdale Park Elementary - ¡Oye! (Listen!)
