Police Charge Man For Morningside Gunfire

Man charged with aggravated assault

Atlanta Police charged a 30-year-old man with aggravated assault after he allegedly into the back of a Morningside home.

Christopher Lloyd was charged late Wednesday evening after police detained him on Amsterdam Avenue and N. Highland Avenue in Virginia-Highland earlier in the day.

Police were called to a house on Greenland Drive after reports of what neighbors described as gunfire and explosions Wednesday around 1 p.m.

Police Sgt. Curtis Davenport said a "high power rifle" was fired "multiple times" into the back of the house.

The SWAT team, the K-9 unit and Atlanta Police officers were searching for a man wearing camouflage after neighbors reported seeing a man with a similar description fleeing the scene.

Lloyd was not wearing camouflage when he was detained around 4 p.m., according to police.

No one was injured in the shooting.
