VaHi Tour of Homes Sells 27K in Tickets

Proceeds to benefit the Virginia-Highland neighborhood

The 2011 Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes raked in more than double the proceeds from last year, according to the organizers of the event.

About $27,000 was collected in ticket sales, Ann Guy, co-chair of the event, told the Virginia-Highland Civic Association board of directors on Monday night.

Guy said the beautiful weather was a big factor in the success of the tour.

In 2010, before factoring in expenses. Board members estimate the event raked in about $16,000 in 2009.

The two-day tour of homes was held Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11.

The Virginia Highland Tour of Homes began many years ago and was restarted in 2004 after a more than 25-year hiatus. The tour showcases the historic architecture and modern designs in the neighborhood and also includes food tastings from local restaurants.
