Virginia-Highland Resident Tapped to Manage Nonprofit

Virginia-Highland resident Tom Tomaka will join The Clean Air Campaign as the employer services manager, the company announced Tuesday.

Tomaka will be responsible for working with Georgia-based companies to continue to build commuter and rideshare programs.

The Clean Air Campaign is a nonprofit that works to encourage commuters to find alternatives that “result in less traffic congestion and better air quality,” which includes ridesharing and public transportation. The nonprofit works with more than 1,600 companies that encourage carpooling or alternate transportation, according to a news release from the company.

“My role to foster relationships with executives at Georgia-based employers will give us a great opportunity to teach more leaders in the business community about the positive impact of commute alternatives,” Tomaka said. “The number of businesses that have established programs is growing, but I think we are just starting to scratch the surface in terms of potential impact.”

Tomaka helped develop rooftop solar energy projects for Atlanta companies with Empower Energy Technology before joining The Clean Air Campaign team.
