Murder, Robbery Charges For Man Accused Of Aurora Twp. Killing

Update: A 51-year-old Elgin man was found dead Saturday morning in an Aurora Township home undergoing renovations.

AURORA, IL — A 40-year-old Aurora man is facing murder and armed robbery charges after Kane County deputies alleged he killed a man over the weekend inside a home under renovation.

Carlos Fonseca-Gutierrez is accused of killing 51-year-old Mario A. Ying, of Elgin, in a home in the 1500 block of Solfisburg Avenue, according to Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain. That area is just a block away from Fonseca-Gutierrez’s residence in the 1700 block of Indian Avenue.

A resident called 911 around 9:20 a.m. Saturday to report a man’s body may have been inside the Solfisburg Avenue home, police said. After police found Ying’s body inside the home, a witness told Kane County deputies about Fonseca-Gutierrez, who lived nearby.

Fonseca-Gutierrez was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery after officials completed an autopsy on Ying, police said.

Detectives from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office believe Fonseca-Gutierrez killed Ying in the Solfisburg Avenue home, Hain told Patch on Monday. That home is owned by the same person who owns Fonseca-Gutierrez’s residence, and deputies are investigating that connection, Hain said.
