1 Hospitalized After Fire Breaks Out At Aurora Retirement Home: AFD
The Plum Grove Retirement Community resident was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, officials said.

AURORA, IL — One resident of Plum Landing Retirement Community was hospitalized after a fire broke out Thursday in a unit at the Aurora center, officials said.
Firefighters were called at about 9:37 p.m. to the retirement home, at 495 N. Lake St., for a fire that was contained to an apartment on the fifth floor. A total of 28 personnel responded to the incident.
One person was found inside the affected unit, officials said, and the resident was taken to Mercy Hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The fire did not spread to other units, so the building remains habitable, according to first responders.
"The swift actions of our firefighters ensured the safety of the residents and minimized damage," Fire Chief David McCabe said in a statement. "This incident is a reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness."

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, officials said Friday.
