1 Killed, 1 Injured In New Year’s Eve Shooting In Aurora: Police

Two men were shot while driving over the Farnsworth Avenue bridge on New Year's Eve, Aurora police said.

AURORA, IL — A New Year’s Eve shooting on the East Side of Aurora killed one man and sent another to the hospital, police said.

Officers were called around 9 p.m. Thursday to the 1300 block of Dearborn Avenue, where they found a large group of people near two men who were suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Both were taken to a local hospital Thursday night.

One man was pronounced dead later that night, while the other was listed in stable condition, according to police, who have not yet identified the man who was killed.

Police said the men were driving over the Farnsworth Avenue bridge when they were shot, before coming to a stop in the 1300 block of Dearborn Avenue.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office is expected to perform an autopsy this week.
