2 Businesses Caught Selling Tobacco To Underage Customers: Aurora PD

Eight of the 10 businesses tested during Aurora Police Department's latest undercover detail were found in compliance, officials said.

AURORA, IL — Two stores in Aurora sold tobacco to underage customers, the Aurora Police Department learned last week.

Cadets, all under the age of 21, went to 10 businesses attempting to buy alcohol or tobacco as part of an undercover detail conducted by Aurora Police Department cadets and Special Operations Group investigators.

During the operation, two businesses violated local ordinances that prohibit the sale of tobacco to minors. An employee at each Dragon Smoke and Vape, 1048 N. Farnsworth Ave., and Amoco Gas Station, 2112 Ogden Ave., were issued notices to appear in court.

"City ordinances and state laws strictly prohibit the sale of alcohol and tobacco to anyone under 21," Special Operations Group Lieutenant Greg Spayth said in a statement. "The Aurora Police Department will keep ensuring compliance through unannounced checks moving forward."
