5 Candidates Named Finalists For Aurora Ward 1 Aldermanic Seat

Mayor Richard Irvin will present his recommendation to the Aurora City Council during Tuesday's Committee of the Whole meeting.

AURORA, IL — Five candidates have been named finalists for the Ward 1 aldermanic seat in Aurora, city officials said.

Eleven Ward 1 residents applied to fill Emmanual Llamas's vacant seat after the alderman stepped down, effective Aug. 1, to care for his father, who has stage 4 stomach cancer, Patch reported.

Due to Llamas's resignation, Mayor Richard Irvin must appoint a new alderman to serve until the next general election in April 2025.
