Aurora To Host Inaugural Colombian Flag-Raising Ceremony
The event will feature performances, an awards presentation, food samples and free handheld Colombian flags.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will host its inaugural Columbian flag-raising ceremony Friday ahead of Colombian Independence Day on Saturday.
City officials, including Mayor Richard Irvin, will be joined by Colombian Consul General Diego Alexander Angulo Marinez and Colombian residents of Aurora for the event that kicks off at 11 a.m. at One Aurora Plaza, 8 E. Galena Blvd.
Angulo Marinez and Irvin met earlier this year in Chicago to establish a relationship between Aurora and Colombia, officials said.

The ceremony will include remarks from Angulo Marinez and a mayoral proclamation and greetings from Colombian leaders in Aurora. Stephanie Lodono and ARPA Cafe Music will perform, and awards will be presented to community members.
Attendees can sample different foods from local restaurants and grab free handheld Colombian flags while supplies last.
