Aurora PD 1st In Country To Launch Post-Contact Feedback Survey
So far, police have learned that traffic safety and theft are the top concerns for community members, officials said.
AURORA, IL — The Aurora Police Department is the first in the country to launch a post-contact community feedback survey, officials announced Monday.
APD partnered with My90, a nationally recognized community engagement platform, to send post-contact surveys seeking honest feedback about interactions in four areas: procedural justice, community sentiment, demographics and public safety concerns. The goal is to use the information to deliver high-quality police service based on community needs, according to a news release.
The survey has many questions geared toward feedback, but a portion also strives to educate the public on the services and offerings APD provides.

After a community member contacts the Aurora Police Department and requests a response, My90 will send a link to a survey, where locals can anonymously share information. Lieutenant Joseph Howe said no personal or incident-identifying information will be collected.
People who call the police as the victim of a serious or traumatic event will be excluded from the recipient list to prevent revictimization, Howe said.

"Receiving timely, open, and honest community feedback allows us to leverage our training, policies and procedures, and focus where our community values it the most," Chief Keith Cross said in a statement.
Officials said so far, My90 has shown that traffic safety and theft are the top concerns for community members. In response, the department implemented public awareness campaigns and education, patrol efforts and other resources, according to the news release. Police said they also "responded ... appropriately" to suggestions to increase patrol car visibility and community engagement.
"Information received through My90 is an invaluable tool, not only to make our department and personnel better, but to enhance transparency, trust, and communication between the police and those we serve," Cross said.
