14-Year-Old Injured In Crash After Evading Traffic Stop: Police
A teenager was in critical condition Thursday night after being hit by a minivan while riding a motorized dirt bike, according to police.
AURORA, IL — A 14-year-old Aurora boy was seriously injured Thursday when he was struck by a minivan while riding a dirt bike on the city's east side, police said.
An Aurora police officer tried to pull over the teen around 11:20 a.m. after seeing him "driving recklessly" in the street and on sidewalks, according to a news release. Police said the teen fled from the officer and was seen a short time later riding on a sidewalk near the corner of Farnsworth Avenue and Liberty Street.
A traffic camera captured footage of the teen running a red light at the intersection before he was hit by a minivan traveling north on Farnsworth Avenue, police said.

A medical helicopter took the teen to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he remained in critical condition Thursday evening, according to police.
Aurora police said the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is conducting an investigation into the crash "due to the severity of the teen's injuries."
