Car Occupants Flee After Crashing Into Pole: Aurora Police

The car lost control and crashed on Lake Street near the Northgate Shopping Center, police said.

AURORA, IL — Two people fled after crashing a car into a pole Tuesday night in Aurora, according to police.

A car driving at a high rate of speed at about 9 p.m. near Northgate Shopping Center on North Lake Street when it swerved, lost control and struck a utility pole. Witnesses reported to police that two occupants fled the scene on foot, spokesperson Jim Levicki told Patch.

Police searched the area but could not locate the people. The car was towed for further investigation.

Lake Street was closed in both directions between Lyons Court and Northpark Avenue for more than an hour while police investigated and helped ComEd clear the scene.

No injuries were confirmed, Levicki said.
