AURORA, IL — A single-family home converted into three separate units in the 700 block of Fifth Street was deemed uninhabitable after an early Thursday morning fire, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

A total of 23 personnel, including three chief officers and two medic units, were dispatched at 4:40 a.m. to the house, where crews found a 2.5-story house with smoke and fire showing from the roof and attic.

Engine teams "quickly extinguished" the fire, and truck companies conducted searches on all the floors, finding no victims. Firefighters then overhauled the attic and disconnected gas and electric utilities.
