Dog Rescued, Family Displaced In Second Avenue Fire: Aurora FD

A total of 18 Aurora Fire Department personnel responded to the house to find heavy fire on the roof and rear of the house, officials said.

AURORA, IL — A family was displaced Sunday evening after their residence in the 700 block of Second Avenue caught on fire, officials said.

A total of 18 Aurora Fire Department personnel responded at 6:32 p.m. to the single-family house to find heavy fire on the roof and rear of the second floor. The blaze was brought under control within 36 minutes of the first unit's arrival following an aggressive interior attack from the back of the house.

A dog was rescued from the house, and one person was assessed and released with no reported injuries, officials said. The family made arrangements to stay with relatives in Aurora.

Officials said utilities were safely secured, and the property was boarded up to "ensure it was safe for turnover to the homeowner after the initial investigation."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to a Monday news release.
