Driver Killed In 3-Car Rollover Crash On Farnsworth Avenue: Aurora PD

The man was pinned inside a car that rolled over after it was hit by at least one car while trying to cross Farnsworth Avenue, police said.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man was killed Monday in a fatal three-car crash on Farnsworth Avenue, Aurora police confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched at 12:55 p.m. to the crash at the intersection with Mountain Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates a white 2024 Nissan Kicks was traveling eastbound on Mountain Street when the driver attempted to cross Farnsworth Avenue and was struck by “at least one of two northbound vehicles” — a black 2008 Cadillac Escalade and a maroon 1997 Ford Explorer, police said.

The Explorer rolled over upon impact, and the driver was pinned inside, officials revealed. Aurora Fire Department crews extricated him from the car and brought him to Ascension Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man, 27, succumbed to his injuries at 2:16 p.m., police said.

The Kane County Coroner's Office has custody of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death, police said. The coroner release the driver's name at a later time, police said.

Two passengers from the other two cars involved were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the young man who lost his life, as they navigate this difficult time," Police Chief Keith Cross said in a statement. "We urge all drivers to use extra caution when traveling on busy roads and stay vigilant at intersections to prevent tragedies like this from happening."
