Family Displaced After Aurora Residence Catches Fire: AFD
The fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a single-family house on Aurora's East Side.

AURORA, IL — A family was displaced from their Aurora home after the two-story residence caught fire Wednesday afternoon, Aurora Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 3:22 p.m. to the single-family house in the 2400 block of Legacy Drive, where they discovered heavy fire at the rear exterior of the house. The 26 first responders coordinated an aggressive attack, targeting both the exterior and interior, bringing the flames under control within about 15 minutes, according to a news release.
Officials did not state the cause of the fire, saying it remains under investigation.

All occupants safely exited the house before firefighters arrived. Two searches confirmed no one else was inside, officials said.
The house was deemed uninhabitable, and residents arranged for temporary accommodations, according to the department.

"The swift and organized efforts of our firefighters helped contain the fire and prevent further damage to the property or nearby homes," Fire Chief David McCabe said in a statement. "This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety in every home."
