Kane Co. Sheriff's Deputy Seriously Injured In Crash

The collision happened while the deputy was responding to an emergency call in Aurora Wednesday morning.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A Kane County Sheriff's Office deputy responding to an emergency call Wednesday morning in Aurora suffered seriously injuries after colliding with a car and building, authorities said.

The deputy, whose identity is not being released at this time, was driving a marked Tahoe squad car with its lights and sirens on when the deputy went through the intersection at North Union Avenue and East New York Street at about 8:10 a.m., according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The squad car collided with another vehicle that was headed north on Union Avenue and then ran into the side of El Paso Grande, a grocery store at 634 E New York St., according to police.
