Man Died After Falling From Aurora Apartment Building: Police

AURORA, IL — A man who was initially thought to have been killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in downtown Aurora jumped to his death from an apartment building, according to Aurora police.

Numerous witnesses called 911 around 11:45 a.m. Saturday to report a man was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of Stolp Avenue and East Galena Boulevard, police said in a news release.

Paramedics from the Aurora Fire Department tried to save the man’s life, but he died in the road, police said. He has not been publicly identified by police.

The Aurora Police Department launched an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run after witnesses reported the man was hit by a car that then fled the area, the release states.

Officers found a video several hours after the man’s death appeared to show him jumping from an apartment at the Leland Tower, police said.
