Man, 35, Found Dead Floating In Fox River: Kane County Coroner

Aurora police and firefighters responded to the area Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call about a deceased person in the Fox River.

AURORA, IL — A 35-year-old man was found dead Tuesday afternoon near Hurd's Island in the Fox River in Aurora, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.

Aurora police and firefighters responded to the area at 1:54 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person in the river. Police spokesperson Jim Levicki told Patch the man was found dead floating in the water near the 600 block of South River Street.

The man was first identified by distinctive tattoos, according to a news release from police. His last known location was a nearby shelter the previous evening.

“Initial findings showed no immediate signs of trauma or foul play,” the release reads.

The man was officially pronounced dead at 2:16 p.m., according to a news release from the Kane County coroner. An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday to determine the cause of death and confirm the man’s identity.

Police’s investigation into the man's death remains active. At the time of this update, officials did not release the man’s name.
