Man Shot, Critically Injured Sunday Afternoon In Aurora: Police

Police said a man was taken to a hospital Sunday with multiple gunshot wounds as they were responding to the location of the shooting.

AURORA, IL — A man was left in critical condition after being shot Sunday afternoon on Aurora’s East Side, according to police.

Multiple callers reported shots were fired around 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Claim Street, police said. Officers learned a man was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds before they reached the area of the shooting.

Aurora police spokesperson Paris Lewbel said officers tracked at least one potential suspect to a home in the 200 block of South Ohio Street, where police spent more than an hour trying to communicate with people inside.

Seven people left the home and no injuries were reported during the short standoff, police said. Lewbel did not respond Monday to Patch’s questions about the standoff. As of Tuesday morning, it is unclear if anyone in the home was connected to the shooting.
