AURORA, IL — Marmion Academy unveiled its newly renovated varsity baseball facility last week, just in time for the start of the sport's season.

Administrators held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for Regole Park, home to batting cages and bullpen areas for which construction began in the spring of 2023.

The new park is named after Ed Regole, a 1950 graduate of Marmion who also funded the project.

"Mr. Regole was a treasured and committed friend of Marmion from the day he graduated until the day he died," Brook Ramlet, with the school's public relations and marketing department, wrote in a news release.

Thanks to "he and his wife Vivienne's generous support through the years," his name is also attached to other facilities at Marmion, including the Regole Natatorium, the Regole Science Center, the Regole Field House, and most recently, Regole Stadium.

Ramlet said Regole provided the school with a "game-changing" gift when he died in 2022. The funds allowed the school to make multiple state-of-the-art renovations to its athletic facilities, benefitting six sports as well as the band program.

"Marmion was a special place to Ed; he considered his gifts through the years to be his legacy," Charles Reichenbacher, director of planned giving and a longtime friend of Regole's, said in a statement.
