Thousands Take Coronavirus Tests At Mobile Kane County Sites
Kane County health officials did not provide information on the number of positive tests, as many people are still awaiting results.
KANE COUNTY, IL — More than 2,100 people took advantage of a mobile coronavirus testing unit that traveled the county last week, according to Kane County Health Department officials.
A mobile unit managed by the Illinois Department of Public Health made stops in Geneva, Elgin, Carpentersville, St. Charles and Aurora between July 27 and Aug. 2.

During that week, 2,156 people were tested for the coronavirus. Kane County health officials did not provide information on the number of positive tests, as many people are still awaiting results.
More than 800 people received tests over two days at Kimball Middle School in Elgin, and more than 700 were tested in two days at Dundee Crown High School in Carpentersville, according to a news release. The mobile unit also tested 239 in Geneva, 212 in St. Charles and 186 in Aurora.

“We are especially grateful to our community partners for helping us stage these sites so quickly,” said Uche Onwuta, who serves as director Kane CountyHealth Department Director of Health Protection. “This was a community-wide effort to serve as many of our communities as locally as possible.”
