AURORA, IL — The Venue in downtown Aurora will host two free movie nights this summer, both showings highlighting important events and places in music history.
"Woodstock" is first on the docket. The documentary about the 55-year-old music festival will be shown at 7 p.m. July 28 at the live music venue, 21 S. Broadway. The film features performances, interviews with artists and footage of the fans to create a portrait of 1960s America.
The second showing will be "Cheat You Fair: The Story of Maxwell Street" at 7 p.m. Aug. 30. The Venue is partnering with Crossroads Blues Society to screen the 2006 documentary, which documents the rise and fall of Maxwell Street, Chicago's great outdoor market and the birthplace of electronic blues.

Crossroads Blues Society believed the movie didn't receive a proper introduction, according to The Venue, so they began working with the producer, Phil Ranstrom, to rerelease it on DVD with almost an hour of added features, including interviews with Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Bo Diddley.
Doors for both movies will open at 6 p.m. for general admission seating. The bar will be open for the events.
