Vehicle Fire Spreads To Aurora Home, Forcing Out 5 Residents
Five Aurora residents were displaced Wednesday night when a fire jumped from a vehicle in a driveway to their home, fire officials said.
AURORA, IL — A home on Aurora’s east side was left uninhabitable Wednesday night after flames spread from a vehicle parked in the driveway, fire officials said.
The Aurora Fire Department was called around 10:35 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the first block of South West Street after someone reported a car was on fire in the driveway, according to a news release. By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had jumped from the vehicle to the outside of the home, officials said.
A dozen firefighters put out the flames before anyone was injured, but the home sustained about $38,000 worth of damage and was deemed uninhabitable, the release states. Four adults and one child who lived in the home are being assisted with temporary housing, officials said.
