Students Participate in Countryside Cares Program

A Student Committee at Countryside Elementary School, consisting of volunteer 4^th and 5^th graders, participates in the Countryside Cares Program.  The goal of the program is to teach children about philanthropy and promote volunteerism in our youth.  The children researched local charity organizations and selected Walk On Farm to be this year’s recipient of the proceeds from a 5K event. The Student Committee will participate in planning and promoting the event as well as volunteering and participating in it.

The Countryside Cares 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, May 19^th.  Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with race kick off at 9:30. Awards for top 5K runners in the adult and student divisions, male and female categories and top student finishers in the 1 Mile Fun Run. Food and refreshments will be available for a fee and games and music will keep spectators entertained! Shuttles to/from the nearby church parking lot will be available.

Registration for the event is now available on-line at www.countrysidepto.com.  The fee is $25 for an adult 5k participant, $20 for a youth 5k participant, and $15 for a 1 Mile Fun Run participant.  All proceeds from the event will go to Walk On Farm.

Walk On provides equine assisted activities to people with physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities. Walk On is organized for charitable and educational purposes to inspire people to advance to their highest potential. Equine Assisted activities provide motivational, educational and recreational benefits that enhance the quality of life. Benefits derive from the interaction with the horse.
