Police Find Caracal Under Resident's Deck
The large, wild cat was spotted wandering Hoffman Estates in recent days, authorities said. The caracal has been captured.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — Police have found and captured a wild cat that has been wandering the suburbs in recent days.
The caracal was located under a resident's deck in Hoffman Estates and was not harmed, police said Tuesday. Police are not sure where the animal came from, and employees with The Valley of the Kings Sanctuary and Retreat in Sharon, Wisconsin, will pick the wild cat up today.
Police said they "are sure (the caracal) will have a healthy and happy life far away from Hoffman Estates."

Authorities first learned the caracal had been wandering the area in recent day. The large cat was spotted in the area of Della Drive and the Hilldale Golf Course, according to a post on the Hoffman Estates Facebook page.
Caracal are native species to Asia, not common to the United States and is an internationally protected endangered species.
