Bolingbrook Residents Petition for Covered Recycling Bins

A Bolingbrook resident hopes to collect 1,000 signatures to replace the village's uncovered recycling bins with covered bins.

A Bolingbrook woman has started a petition to swap the village's uncovered recycling bins with ecycling bins with lids.

Beverly Emond hopes to collect 1,000 signatures. So far, 105 people have signed the online petition. Emond plans to send the petition to Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar.

"On a windy garbage day, the items in the uncovered recycle bins get blown all over everyone's yard," Emond posted on the petition page. "In most cases those items are not put back in a recycle bin. They are put in garbage bags and recyclable items end up in a landfill."

Homeowners say that neighborhoods turn into a "war zone ghetto" on a windy garbage day, Emond posts. 

"Let's put an end to this 'garbage' and get what our property taxes are paying for!!!"
