Porto's Peri Peri is a local chain that prepares chicken in a Portugal-by-way-of-Africa style.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A local restaurant chain that specializes in Portugese-style chicken dishes is expanding to Bolingbrook. Porto's Peri Peri will open soon at 760 South Weber Rd., according to the restaurant's website.
Porto's Peri Peri is a locally based restaurant business that serves a unique twist on peri peri-style chicken. Peri Peri is an increasingly popular style of spicy, marinated chicken. Peri Peri, also known as the African Bird's Eye Chili, is a chili pepper-based seasoning traditionally used in African chicken dishes. But Porto's Peri Peri uses a recipe that is traditional to the Portugese city of Porto, where sailors would return with the African chili, according to Porto's Facebook page.
The chain, owned by Syed Pasha, has 18 locations, not including the Bolingbrook spot. With nine locations in the Chicagoland area, it has also expanded to California, Indiana, Missouri and Texas, according to its website.
