Venus Smith to Leave Valley View As Part of Administrative Cuts

Cutting an assistant superintendent position is part of $560,000 of administrative cuts Valley View will make in the next three years.

Venus Smith, current assistant superintendent of K-5 education, will leave Valley View as part of $560,000 in administrative cuts the district plans to make over the next three years.

Rachel Kinder, current assistant superintendent of 6-12 education and wife of Romeoville High School Principal Derek Kinder, will stay on.

Under the plan to cut administrative costs, the two assistant superintendent positions will be combined into a single executive director position with a reduced salary of $120,000.

Kinder and Smith both received a salary of $130,673 in 2012, according to the 2012 Valley View Administrator Salary Compensation Report
