3 Firefighters, 1 Other Person Hurt In Logan Square Fire
UPDATED: The 3 Chicago firefighters suffered heat-related injuries battling Wednesday's blaze.

CHICAGO, IL — Four people were hurt in an extra-alarm fire in Logan Square on Wednesday morning, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Three of those hurt were firefighters who suffered heat-related injuries battling the blaze in the 1800 block of North Kimball Avenue. Two firefighters were taken to Saint Mary's Hospital, while one firefighter was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
One person also was in critical condition, the fire department said. That individual was originally taken to Saint Mary's before being transferred to Stroger Hospital. Firefighters responded to the call of a structure on fire at around 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5. At around 10:15 a.m., additional manpower was requested "to allow crews to be rotated due to heat," according to an online update by the department. By that time, the main body of fire had been controlled, the fire department said.

The blaze eventually was extinguished at around 11:20 a.m., according to the department.
