Bucktown 'Black Widow' Murderer Makes TV Series

The story of an infamous female murderer was recently featured on Investigation Discovery. Part of her killing streak occurred right here in Bucktown, investigators say.

A TV series recently spent an episode—entitled "The Black Widow—exploring an infamous decade-old Bucktown murder.

The incident occurred Sept. 25, 1993. Victim Robert O'Dubaine was reportedly gunned down that day in a local condominium he shared with his girlfriend. Investigation Discovery's "FBI: Criminal Pursuit" featured the story on April 8.

"Some people are cajoled into murders. Some people are almost forced into murders," says retired Chicago Police Det. Bill Johnston, who worked the case. "I think she's a born murderer."

"Criminal Pusuit" begins with the O'Dubaine investigation, which led police to reexamine the brutal 1987 stabbing murder of Suh's mother in Evanston, who was found dead of 35 stab wounds in her Evanston dry-cleaning store.
