Thai Spot Switches up Menu, Opens for Lunch
Bucktown's Silom12 is changing things up this year—the restaurant's third in business. Learn what you can expect from the local Thai hotspot.
A Bucktown Thai restaurant is switching things up in hopes of bringing a few new faces in during its current third year in business.
As of March 1, Silom12, 1846 N. Milwaukee Ave., is serving lunch. In addition to its full bar it's also now offering diners the BYOB option. Those updates join the business' usual "authentic dishes with a modern twist," employees said.
Owned by Chantima Kamarchevakul, the local eatery has been open since January 2011. Along with updated hours and changes to the restaurant's menu, it's also gotten a new look.

"It's been two years already and that's why we decided to do something new," Kamarchevakul said, adding that customers can now order Ramen at the restaurant. "It's another thing in Chicago that we want to present. (Ramen) is kind of trending here right now."

The restaurant is named after Silom, a popular district in Bangkok, Thailand, known for its wealthily businesses and bustling nightlife.
"During the day, the streets of Silom are filled with business-clad people," the business' website says. "Once work is over, the streets are transformed into one of the greatest nightlife scenes."
Diners should keep an eye out for new chef's creations—"duck delight", crispy soft shell crab and pork shank, to name a few—and additional appetizers, which can now be found on Silom's menu.
