Bucktown in Bloom: Warm Weather Brings Local Fun (PHOTOS)

Monday and Tuesday brought 80-degree temperatures to Bucktown and Wicker Park, creating the first taste of summer in the area.

Summer-like temperatures came to Bucktown and Wicker Park this week, bringing residents out of their homes to enjoy local luxuries including dog play areas, parks and window shopping.

The weather was a welcomed change from heavy rainfall last month—the wettest on record since 1947.

The city saw more than 8.5 inches of rain in April, according to reports. Nearly 4 inches of that total came April 18, when floodwater took over much of the city. The worst-hit area was Albany Park.

But such rainfall isn't over. Meteorologists are predicting rain and temperatures in the 50s for the next week or so, according to the National Weather Service.

That's why Patch editors took to the streets on Wednesday to capture the sights and sounds of what's hopefully to come—a warm summer filled with plenty of sunshiney days to enjoy the outdoors.
